◆ 千里送羽毛行動 (Gather Feather Together) ◆

閣下有否想過愛鳥換毛時掉下的羽毛可以救到另外一隻鳥的生命? 在PsittaSceneVol.52 (Aug 2002) 內有一篇文章提到，美國有一個部族 (Zuni, a Northern American Indian tribe) 在舉行不同議式的時候，都會用到大量雀鳥的羽毛。有一個機構，就為了這些部族去收集羽毛，這樣, 這些部族便不用再獵殺鸚鵡的同時，這些歷史尤久的部族可得以延續他們的傳統。
個人所收集的羽毛有限，本會現正發起"千里送羽毛行動" (Gather Feather Together) ，希望能集合眾會員的力量，在保育鸚鵡及延續少數部族歷史能出一分力。本會收集所得的羽毛將全數捐出。除了修剪過或折斷的羽毛之外，基本上各類鸚鵡(愛情鳥至大型金剛) 羽毛都可以捐出，羽絨毛(Down feather) 亦可以。這個是馬拉松式收集行動，並非一次性的羽毛收集行動，希望各會員長期支持。
會員可於聚會時將羽毛交給任何一位委員 或 郵寄至 本會信箱「香港郵政總局信箱2389號」

Did you know that the moulted feather of your lovely parrots can actually save the life of another parrot? An article from Psittacine Vol.52 (Aug.2002) describes how this can be done. There is an Indian Tribes, Zuni, in Northern American that use different feathers for different ceremonies at various times of the year. An organization has been collecting parrots' feathers for this tribe. Donating the feathers to the organization can stop the unnecessary killing of parrots and at the same time keep the precious tradition of this tribe alive.

The Hong Kong Parrot Club now kicks off "Gather Feather Together." We hope that members will donate feathers (unclipped) to us. We will then collectively send them oversea. This is not a one-off campaign. We hope that we can receive ceaseless support from all members. All kinds of unclipped feathers are wanted. Parrots of all sizes (from lovebirds to macaws), and even their down feathers are wanted.

This way parrot and native culture conservation can run side by side.
